Our Vision

As the CHPC Vision Team listened to the members of the congregation, they were guided by the following Challenge . . .to create a Vision that would “Energize the people of CHPC through clear direction and a means to continually discern God’s purposes in this rapidly changing world.”

WHAT WE HEARD FROM YOU

  • The Vision should be clear and consistent
    Ephesians 4:13 - 14
  • The Vision should reflect Jesus to the world
    John 8:12, Phil 2:1 - 4
  • People want to be part of a true “Joy-Full” Community
    Acts 4:32, I John 3:18, James 1:2
WHAT WE HEARD FROM SCRIPTURE
After much prayer and struggle, the Lord led the Vision Team to Scriptures on the centrality of Jesus as the “Author and Finisher of our faith.”

The first scripture dealt with the Year of Jubilee, which started with a celebration:

On the Day of Atonement sound the trumpet throughout your land.
Consecrate the fiftieth year . . . It shall be a jubilee for you. . . Lev. 25:9 - 10.

We were also led to Isaiah 61, a prophecy of the Messiah’s ministry, which particularly resonated with our team and our fellow MATs as God’s calling for the future of CHPC.

And finally, we were led to Luke 4:18 where Jesus announced the fulfillment of the prophecy in Himself, proclaiming “the Year of the Lord” or the arrival of the permanent Jubilee through His eternal Atonement.

From the listening, study of Scripture, looking at where God seems to be working at CHPC, and lots of prayer, we identified three key themes that were exciting to all of us and spoke to the deep longing of our hearts: Connecting, Serving, and Celebrating. These formed the foundation of the new Vision. We also found them particularly present in Isaiah 61 and in many other scriptures.
