Operating
52 weeks a year, Find a Need and Fill It is the
largest ministry of Feast of Love. In our city, many low-income
families have no table or plates for their meals. Children often
sleep on the floor. Find a Need and Fill It gives
people donated beds, tableware, and other surplus items. Abused
women and children who need to reconstruct their lives, the
homeless, elderly, disabled, and those slipping through the
safety net of society are our clients. We work with
25 established agencies and organizations who contract with
us and also screen clients to ensure that needs are legitimate.
To operate this
ministry, the Feast of Love owns a 10,000 square foot warehouse
in downtown Cincinnati to house donated furniture. Six volunteer
workers inspect smaller donated items and prepare them for distribution.
Additional volunteers answer phones and take applications six
hours a week.
The ministry owns
four vehicles for volunteer drivers who make deliveries. Thirty
to thirty-five volunteers use their own vehicles for pick-up
and delivery. The third van serves as a mobile store for clients
to pick out small items.
We are now looking
for more drivers so we can expand to serve additional agencies.
We are the only ministry in the Tri-State area that serves this
vital need in our community.
Our
Charge
.
. . here is a way you can prove the reality of your love. Do
you remember the generosity of Jesus Christ, the Lord of us
all? He was rich, yet He became poor for your sakes so that
His poverty might make you rich . . . The important thing is
to be willing to give as much as we canthat is what God
accepts, and no one is asked to give what he has not got . .
. It is like a matter of share and share alike. At present,
your plenty may supply their need; and then at some future date,
their plenty may supply your need.
