Easter Events & Worship

Hang tight while we look up scheduled events...

Ash Wednesday Worship

Ash Wednesday will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 7 pm.

Ash Wednesday always falls six and half weeks before Easter, beginning the Lenten season of preparation for Christ’s Resurrection on Easter Sunday.

In the early Christian Church, public penance for people who had sinned including wearing ashes and sackcloth. As the Church grew and evolved, this practice lessened.

This long tradition — of externally recognizing ourselves as sinners seeking with God — ultimately transformed into what we now know as Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.

Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday will be celebrated on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at 9 and 10:30 am.

Palm Sunday recalls when Jesus entered in to Jerusalem and was greeted by the people waving palm branches and crying Hosanna!

The palm branch is a symbol of victory, triumph, peace and eternal life.

Palm Sunday is the first day of Holy Week and is the Sunday before Easter.

Maundy Thursday Communion Service

Maundy Thursday Worship is Thursday, March 28 at 7 pm

What does Maundy Thursday mean? Maundy is the Latin word for commandment. And Maundy Thursday is the day Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.”

On Maundy Thursday, Jesus tells his followers to love as he loves. “Watch me love you. Now, you love one another. Just like I’m sacrificing for the people who are about to desert me. I want you to sacrifice for the good of one another.” The Apostle John says, “By this, we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers” (1 John 3:16).

Therefore, let us see the greatest love in action on Maundy Thursday and the following day, Good Friday. “Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end” (John 13:1). He loved us to the uttermost. And let us be so moved by this love that it becomes our own. “He laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.” This is the new commandment of Maundy Thursday.

Good Friday

Good Friday Worship is on March 29, 2024 at 7 pm

On Good Friday, we remember Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross. The selection of Scripture, readings, and song will inspire our imagination and spirit so that we will experience the darkness and pain of Jesus on the cross. Our God suffers for our salvation.

To fully grasp the glory and beauty of Jesus’ resurrection, we must recognize the extent of Jesus’ sacrifice for the rescue of the world. Our time of prayer and reflection will deepen our love and adoration of Jesus, and prepare us to receive the wondrous gift of eternal life in Christ.
